Chinese Language Courses

As a part of the MLWSP, designed and developed for K-12 international students, Maple Leaf Chinese Language curriculum implements language and culture level teaching. The teaching materials consist of three parts to meet the K-12 international Chinese learning requirements. Maple Leaf has developed 15 volumes of “Maple Chinese” series, which are tailored for international students in the K-12 stage. “Maple Leaf Preschool Chinese”, consisting of four levels, which can comprehensively cover international children aged 2-6. “AP Chinese” meets the needs of international students for the AP exam.

The Maple Leaf Chinese language curriculum system follows the principle of combining "structure-function-culture"; it is student-centered, proficient application oriented, and aims at training cross-cultural communication skills and integrating Chinese culture. It adheres to the concept of "Chinese characters as the foundation, culture as the body, interest as the base, and levels as the outline". It is strictly aligned with the international 5C standard for language teaching and the national "International Chinese Language Education Chinese Level Standard", respecting the Laws of Second Language Acquisition. The course is designed step by step, starting from the fundamental and elementary stages to the intermediate and advanced stages, and then to the advanced stage of preparing for the Chinese university entrance examination. It forms a complete and coherent Chinese language teaching system that is age graded, progressive, spiral ascending, and provides international students with a multi-dimensional integration of language and culture in international Chinese education.
