Roadshow in Five Countries

On October 13, 2019, Dr. Sherman Jen and his three-member delegation set off from China, traveling day and night for three weeks, passing through 22 cities in five countries including Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, visiting 33 universities and four certification agencies, and holding 37 roadshows and related meetings.

In the process of promoting the school to 11 universities in Australia, Dr. Sherman Jen and his team not only completed the assigned task, but also gained something extra. A university friend suggested that if Maple Leaf World School Program could be supported by the British certification body Ecctis and benchmarked against the A-Level curriculum, the global reputation would be doubled. Dr. Sherman Jen decided to adopt this suggestion.

In the UK, Dr. Sherman Jen led a team to promote Maple Leaf World School Program to top universities in the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London and University College London. In the EU, they promoted the courses to Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Hague University in the Netherlands, and Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.

The roadshow team's promotion of 33 universities in Europe and Australia is an important part of the global promotion of Maple Leaf World School Program. James Beeke, the global superintendent, is also promoting it in North America as planned. With more than 20 years of experience in international education, Maple Leaf International School has trained tens of thousands of high school graduates who have gone global, established a global brand, and has a huge market influence.

Soon after returning to China, the roadshow team received 27 letters of support from universities for Maple Leaf World School’s curriculum, and subsequently received a total of 113 letters of support from universities around the world.

Promotion to the International Education Industry

By holding press conferences, theme reports and seminars, we explained the significance of Maple Leaf World School's curriculum transformation to the international education industry, academia and all sectors of society, and gained recognition and support from all sectors of society .

In order to ensure the academic quality and practical level of Maple Leaf World School Program and to promote and introduce it to the academic and educational circles, Dr. Sherman Jen decided that Maple Leaf Educational Systems would host a special seminar with the theme of "National Strategy, Maple Leaf Action" and invite domestic curriculum experts, government officials and front-line educators to participate in the discussion.

On May 22, 2021, the first seminar on Maple Leaf World School Program was held in Shanghai. Since then, five seminars have been held in Shenzhen (June 26), Tianjin (September 25), Yiwu (October 21), and Haikou (October 23). Dozens of domestic experts, professors, government officials, and nearly 100 relevant personnel participated in the seminar. Zhang Minsheng, Jiang Bo, Liu Baoli, Lu Xiaozhong and other authoritative experts in the industry fully affirmed Maple Leaf World School Program and put forward pertinent opinions and willingness to assist in promotion from different angles.

The following are excerpts of some expert opinions from the five seminars:

  • Zhang Minsheng, former deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, president of the Shanghai Education Society, and national supervisor, believes that the Maple Leaf Educational Systems has independently developed a curriculum system and obtained international certification, achieving a breakthrough in international courses with Chinese characteristics, which is of far-reaching significance. The goal positioning, leadership and creativity of the Maple Leaf curriculum system are invaluable and should receive more attention and support.

  • Liu Baoli, the China - ASEAN Education Exchange Week Organizing Committee and former deputy director of the International Department of the Ministry of Education, believes that Maple Leaf World School Program has a clear direction, which is in line with the strategic goals and tasks of the "National 14th Five-Year Plan" regarding education development. It is future-oriented and conforms to the development trends of Chinese culture and contemporary science and technology. It has distinctive features and innovatively constructed a distinctive international curriculum that integrates Chinese and Western cultures. It has a complete system and is oriented towards the world, suitable for both domestic and overseas students.

  • Han Xiaoyu, Director of the Basic Education Department of the Hainan Provincial Department of Education, pointed out that Maple Leaf World School Program responds to the country's major educational strategic needs, adapts to the development direction of China's international education in the new era, and is in line with the new curriculum concept of diversity and selectivity advocated by China's general high school curriculum reform.

  • Professor Wu Gangping of East China Normal University commented: Maple Leaf World School Program has evolved from introduction to independent innovation, which is consistent with the country's reform and opening-up process. It embodies the concept of internationalization and Chinese cultural awareness, and represents the direction of China's education dissemination to the world.

  • Professor Wu Hua of Zhejiang University believes that Maple Leaf World School Program has three levels of significance. First, it reflects the country's cultural strategy; second, it demonstrates the innovation and contribution capabilities of Chinese private education, setting a positive example for private schools; third, it broadens new channels for the dissemination of Chinese culture and provides a solution for Chinese courses, Chinese culture, and Chinese standards to go global in a subtle and optimized way.

  • Lu Xiaozhong, executive vice president of the Guangdong Provincial Education Association and dean of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Education Development Research Institute of South China Normal University, believes that contemporary China needs international courses with independent intellectual property rights. Maple Leaf World School Program solves the problem of how to implement international curriculum concepts and practices with Chinese characteristics. Maple Leaf Education has taken the right path.

  • Jin Yili, a special inspector of the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Provincial Supervisor, and President of the Shenzhen Education Society, pointed out that Maple Leaf World School Program has both Chinese heart and is applicable to different countries; it is suitable for Chinese students and takes other ethnic groups into consideration. It is an international curriculum system that embodies Chinese sentiment and world vision. In the past, international courses were introduced and domestic students were sent abroad; in the future, Maple Leaf World School Program will be sent abroad and foreign students will be introduced. This has formed a "two-way" exchange between Chinese education and the world, which is in line with the national strategy and the actual needs of Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

  • Fu Weili, guest professor of Shenzhen University, pointed out that Maple Leaf World School Program provides inspiration for curriculum innovation in three aspects: First, at the curriculum operation level, it provides a solution for the inclusiveness and optimized integration of Chinese curriculum culture and world curriculum culture; second, it replaces the ranking of students' grades with graded teaching and graded test certification, which provides an operational paradigm worthy of reference for the reform of the examination system; third, incorporating educational courses into Maple Leaf World School Program is conducive to cultivating students' healthy personality and is a breakthrough in this field.
