Principal
Mr. Chiu grew up in a city called Richmond located in the province of British Columbia Canada where he earned his Masters in Education and Bachelor of Science with the University of British Columbia. Mr. Chiu has been a member of the Maple Leaf community for over a decade. He has served as a science teacher for nine years before moving on to become a Registrar for two years in MLIS-Dalian. Afterwards, he assumed various roles including being vice principal at MLIS-Zhenjiang, acting principal of MILS-Xi'an, and in the last year, the principal of MLIS-Jinan. He is now serving MILS-Xi'an as the Principal of the International Program.

Ms. Zhang is an alumna of MLIS-Dalian, having completed her high school there in 2015. She then pursued further studies at the University of British Columbia, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2019. In 2024, she obtained her Master's degree at the University of Sydney. She has served as both an academic advisor and a passionate science teacher at MLWS-KPU and MLIS-Jinan, and now she is the vice principal of the Maple Leaf World School Program in Xi’an. Ms. Zhang's teaching philosophy centers on cultivating a positive and collaborative school community where students can be creative and innovative thinkers.
Ms. Meng's passion for teaching can be traced back to her pre-professional days. Whether as a Graduate Assistant at Indiana University or being an Intern at Culver Academy, IN. Ms. Meng is passionate about teaching, especially being the person to inspire her students about the way of thinking. Ms. Meng has refined her teaching skills since 2015 with students from various cultural background in California, Indiana, Hong Kong, and the mainland of China. In school year 2023-2024, she is serving as the Head of English Department and teaching English 12.
Mr. Rabbah is a dedicated English teacher focused on providing innovative, fun and inspiring classroom. Mr. Rabbah tracks record of encouraging students to master English while also nurturing their love of the language committed to finding new methods to get better results and improve the English program.
Ms. Shi was born and raised in Korla, China. She got her first bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Xi’an and gained a bachelor’s degree of Education in Canada. Ms. Shi is an educator who passionate for teaching in a multicultural environment. She has taught in a foreign national school in Maple Leaf Education System for one year and now she is working as a math teacher in Maple Leaf Xi’an campus. Ms. Shi believes that every student is unique and all of them deserves the best education.
Ms. Wang was born in Xi’an, China. She gained an Honors Bachelor’s degree of Science and Bachelor’s degree of education with the Lakehead University in Canada. She is a caring and passionate teacher who wants all students to be successful learners. Ms. Wang has taught in Canada for both offline and virtual high schools. She works to create a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and inclusive to the varied needs of students.
Nevern Presence was born and bred in a small town called Strand in Cape Town, South Africa. He went to the University of Western Cape where he attained his Honours degree in Afrikaans and Nederlands. He is a hard worker and believes that no matter how arduous a task may seem, with the right attitude, it will be conquered. According to Nevern, his greatest strengths as a teacher is his enthusiasm, patience, responsibility and his ability to explain difficult things in a simple way.
Ms. Bongiwe Mfeka is a dedicated experienced teacher mostly focused on trying to build students’ self - esteem by motivating them and believing in their possibilities as youth. Bongiwe believes that every student can learn and can achieve his/ her totality. When she arrived in China 2018, she first taught at Guizhou Province and later Maple Leaf International School.
Mr. Denver Siblagan graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health, from the University of the Cordilleras in September 2014. He also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Management from Philippine Christian University, earned in March 2024. With 9 years of teaching experience, Mr. Siblagan is a licensed and versatile educator who has taught a wide range of subjects, particularly electives such as General Physical Education, Sports, Personal Development, Psychology, Leadership, Music, and Art. A passionate basketball enthusiast, Mr. Siblagan has excelled as a coach, leading his teams to numerous victories in various games and tournaments. His love for music is equally profound; he enjoys singing and is skilled in playing several instruments, including the guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, bandurria, and piano.
Ms. Mondilla hailing from the beauteous islands of the Philippines has a track record of successful teaching and education reform, her vast experience in teaching various age groups young learners to adults through both online and offline across the world, from different walks of life has made her the teacher she is today. Ms. Mondilla took up her Bachelor's Degree in Education majoring in English on a full academic scholarship. After graduation, she passed the Board Exam for License Professional Teachers in her country. She decided to pursue higher education and took up her Master's Degree in English Language Education. She is also a TESOL and TEFL Certified with experience in training teachers and curriculum designing and development to meet the needs of the learners. Teaching has always been a delightful profession for her regardless of the kind of learner. Her main goal is to create an environment of warmth and care while using her experience and expertise to help students nurture their natural skills in learning and socializing so they can maximize their talents and abilities.
Ms. Rosario is a focused, creative, and multiculturally flexible facilitator of knowledge transmission, a well-driven person who never ceases to discover new and effective teaching ways and refuses mental stagnation. She is an experienced teacher and a professional, licensed educator who has unwavering passion for learning, incalculable patience, dedication, and self-motivation to work.
Miss Zheng studied at Lakehead University in Canada, where she earned a double bachelor's degree in mathematics and education and got the Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate in Canada. Since 2020, Miss Zheng has gained teaching experience in several high schools in Canada. As an experienced and self-driven educator, Miss Zheng can be flexible in this challenging pandemic situation to satisfy students’ various needs. Currently Miss Zheng is teaching Visual Arts at Xi'an Maple Leaf International School.
Ms. Rosalyn Palomo has been a teacher now for over 18 years. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She obtained her TESOL Certification from De La Salle University. Ms. Palomo is also a licensed teacher. Before coming to China Ms. Palomo worked in many schools teaching various age groups and nationalities. Aside from teaching, Ms. Palomo also worked as a team leader at SELC-Global Center Philippines Corporation for 4 years. She previously taught at EtonHouse International School Dongguan for two years as an EAL teacher before working for Maple Leaf International School Xi’an. Ms. Palomo looks forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development.
Ms. Judy is from Xi’an, China. She obtained her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education (Sec) STEM from Thompson River University in Summer of 2022. Judy's eight-week certifying practicum in Kamloops, Canada at South Sa-Hali Elementary Secondary School. Before she completed her BEd, Ms. Judy worked as a Teacher Assistant on the Xi’an Maple Leaf campus. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, travelling, cooking, and staying active. She is passionate about inclusive education and hands-on, student-centered learning.
Mr. Smith is from the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. He has studied at South China University of Technology and North -West University where he earned a Bachelor of Economics in International Economics and Trade and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, respectively. He has worked in China for two years as an ESL Teacher. He believes that every student has the potential to succeed. He is excited to be a part of the Maple Leaf community and is looking forward to creating an environment where students can achieve their personal goals and become the next generation of global leaders.
Ms. Britany David-Aw is a life long learner who hails from the chilly Canadian plains. She graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English Literature and Fine Arts, from the University of Alberta. Her devotion for teaching and pedagogy has lead to a wide range of teaching experiences, extending from Canada to the United Kingdom and China. Ms. David-Aw is passionate about helping students develop a love for reading and exploring their interests or self expression through writing and poetry. She believes that, with guidance, every student has the ability to learn and the potential to succeed. Ms. David-Aw began teaching with Maple Leaf at the Shanghai campus before coming to Xi'an. She looks forward to helping students grow and reach their fullest potential!
Originally from South Africa, known as the Rainbow Nation, Rebecca thrives in multicultural environments and loves exploring different cultures. With a warm and approachable personality, she is also a dedicated academic. Rebecca holds a BSc in Agriculture, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, an Advanced Certificate in Teaching Life Science, and an Honours Degree in Education Management and Leadership. For the past seven years, she has been an active member of the South African Council for Educators, passionately teaching students from diverse backgrounds. As she joins Maple Leaf Xi’an, Rebecca looks forward to inspiring and engaging young minds in a fun and impactful way.
Ms. Zhou is a science teacher at MLIS-Xi’an, teaching Chemistry 11 and Biology 12. She grew up in Hubei province, China and attended high school at MLIS-Wuhan. After graduation, she earned her Honours Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education with First Class Standing at Lakehead University in 2022. Her teaching philosophy values students’ learning progress and employs a growth mindset in the integration of pedagogies.
Ms. Luo earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Teaching from the University of South Australia. With previous teaching experience at Xiangyang Maple Leaf Campus, she is committed to fostering a positive and stimulating educational environment. Looking ahead, Ms. Luo is enthusiastic about continuing to contribute to student development and is excited about the opportunities for growth and learning in the future.
